Disclaimer: I’m not a professional in skincare, the information that I’m going on is simply my own research and this is just advice!

It’s official; I love, love love CBD and hemp in my skincare routine for sensitive and dry skin. I’ve been doing a tonne of research on skincare, and last month I decided to take advantage of isolation to try out a new routine. I ordered a Beauty Bay mini haul to try out some bits from The Ordinary (review here!) and Revolution Skincare’s CBD Serum. If you fancy trying it for yourself, a 30ml bottle of serum is a reasonable €12.25.
I’ve kind of fallen in love with the idea of hemp and CBD in skincare since I tried The Body Shop Hemp Body Butter (I’ve reviewed that one here) and it really has changed my life. I went from constantly getting huge patches of dry skin all over my face and body, to only have a few small patches here and there.
At one stage the eczema was so bad on my hands that my pinky finger was swollen to the point of not having a fingerprint! Since I started using the hemp cream on my face, my whole body has been reaping the benefits.
With that in mind, I absolutely had to try Revolution Skincare’s CBD Serum.
serum ingredients
The Revolution Skincare’s Serum is gently infused with two cannabis-derived ingredients that are known for their nourishing benefits; Cannabis Sativa Oil and Cannabidiol. This serum is designed to moisturise, nourish and calm dry and sensitive skin.
It’s also formulated with glycerin, which is a wonder ingredient for dry skin.

Glycerin is a moisturiser, and also acts to trap moisture in the skin, giving you a more youthful glow. It’s also non-comedogenic, which means that it doesn’t clog pores. I personally don’t have a problem with spots and acne, but I still want my skin to breathe! Possibly my favourite benefit of glycerin is that it increases skin hydration and actually helps to heal dry and damaged skin.
my experience using the serum
I really love this serum. I first noticed how impressive the Revolution Skincare’s serum is when I did a patch test on the inside of my elbow. I’d been having a few stubborn patches of irritated and broken skin caused by god-knows what that wasn’t going away easily. It’s not recommended to apply this serum (and most others!) on damaged skin, so I made sure to avoid the scratches. Imagine my surprise when that evening there are only a few flaky patches left! It’s insane.

In other magic, the serum has sorted out my dry ear problems. I don’t know if I’m the only one with this problem, but it seems that behind my ears is the epicentre of my skin health. If I’m going to have an eczema break out, it’ll start behind my ears. I could be completely flake-free everywhere else on my body, but there will always be some irritation behind my ears. I usually moisturise behind my ears twice a day, but at the beginning of May I’d been getting excessive flaking and itchiness. I decided to put a drop of the Revolution Skincare CBD Serum behind my ears and it cleared up instantly. Within a couple of days of applying the serum twice a day, it has all cleared up, it’s amazing.
In terms of my face, I actually have seen an improvement already. When I first started trying out the skincare products, I only used The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B2 and this CBD serum twice a day. Within a day I was waking up with a more hydrated face, instead of the desert I usually wake up to. I’ve stopped using both of those in the morning, since I tested them separately and they both react negatively with my foundation- my makeup was patchy and sliding around my face as soon as I applied it. (If you want to see what I use under my makeup make sure to read my The Ordinary review)
I currently apply three or four drops of the Revolution Skincare CBD Serum for my night time skincare routine, before my aqueous cream moisturiser. I think, while I’ve enjoyed and seen the difference in my skin using those several The Ordinary products, the product I will continue to purchase and use daily will be this CBD serum. Honestly, I think I could survive without all the rest of them and just use this!

What do you think of CBD and hemp-infused products? Have you tried a CBD serum for sensitive and dry skin? Thank you so, so much for reading my blog, it’s my favourite thing and I’m so happy that you’re reading it.
Hi Dion! Glad you liked my post. Makeup Revolution and Revolution Skincare is available online in Australia on Glam Raider and Beauty Bay (my favourite- they don't ship with lots of bubble wrap, just recycled cardboard!) and a few others; https://www.finder.com.au/makeup-revolution-australia Hope that helps! x
Great feedback - I’m sold. I wonder do they have a distributor or do they ship to Australia?
