June anti haul

It’s a short one this month, with a substantially smaller number of beauty releases since even the beginning of June so there were fewer interesting, but ultimately silly, products to convince myself I don’t need. So buckle up, it’s going to be a quick and bumpy ride!

Fresho2 Donald Duck collection

If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I was cooing over Catrice’s Minnie and Dasiy collection in my March ‘Buy or Bye?’ post. Spoiler- because of the lockdown I wasn’t able to go into pharmacies to get any of the collection, sob. You’d think that I would be all over this Donald Duck collection, and while I’m delighted to be investigating and writing about a Chinese brand, I won’t be getting anything from this collection.

I don’t like the aesthetic of the collection- I’m a 25 year old woman, not five and I wouldn’t enjoy how any of the products would look in my collection. The prices of products on the English-translated version of the website seem a bit off; $899 for a blush duo? I’m sure that can’t be right. It’s worth noting that I don’t know what customs tax you might have to pay, so if you’re planning on getting some, just be aware. I’m a huge palette lover and I’m always looking for exciting additions to my collection- and this isn’t it. Available this past 11th of June, so if you’re interested you can go and get it.

Essence Wanna Bee My Honey? palette

There’s not a whole lot on the Wanna Bee My Honey? Collection, but it should be available soon. When it comes to mascara and pencil eyeliners, I love Essence, but I would never really consider the brand for anything else. I don’t currently own any eyeshadow palettes, but what I used to have was very childish and wouldn’t be the kind of quality that I want in my collection.

The Wanna Bee My Honey? palette is, obviously, a bee-themed palette, as is the whole collection, and as someone who lived in and adores Manchester UK, I have a particular penchant for little worker bees. However, much like the Donald Duck palette I just mentioned, buying this palette wouldn’t add anything to my collection, nor does it inspire me particularly.

NYX Utopia palette

I think this one is a real pity. I don’t have any NYX eyeshadow palettes, but I have played with them before and I quite enjoy the result, and I kind of love some of the colours in the Utopia palette. I’m not a big fan of huge eyeshadow palettes; they’re hard to store and travel with, and I find having so many colours to choose from in one go freaks me out slightly and I’d never know what to do with them all.

This is a hard one because I love the swatches available on Trendmood, for all skin tones, and I absolutely love the nine square at the top right of the palette- that pastel blue has actually inspired me to invest in a pastel palette.

However, I just would never reach for it because there’s no real story or theme for the palette, and I’d prefer to pick a more concise and curated palette. If you are interested (though this is an anti haul!) it is available now.

BH Cosmetics Weekend Vibes collection Avocado Toast palette

I never really talk about BH Cosmetics because I don’t have anything from the brand, and I only imagine that it’s similar in quality to W7- which I’m in impressed with one iota. So, take what I’m saying with a pinch of salt. I just wanted to include it because food-themed palettes are all the rage (hello Too Faced).

I’m not really interested in any of the Weekend Vibes collection, but the Avocado Toast palette is a particular no-no for me. Sadly, with my red hair, blue eyes and pale face, I find it impossible to look good in blue or green, so I couldn’t wear it even if I was a huge fan of avocado toast.

ELF x JKissa To The Rescue palette

This anti haul is basically all about palettes, apparently. I’ve seen this palette before and I very almost added it to my June ‘Buy or Bye?’ post, but it didn’t quite make that cut so I’ll mention it now.

I just feel like this palette is like a smaller James Charles Morphe palette, only more childish.

I don’t like the sticker idea, nor do I like a plain white palette- if the packaging isn’t as fun as the eyeshadow itself I don’t enjoy it as much.

This palette would be great for a teenage girl, offering everything they could possibly want, but it’s not something I would ever use. It could be a great little extra to have on hand to add to a look, but I basically never wear colour (that’s not strictly true, but I’m more of a basic nude kind of girl) so this would be useless. Of all the colours included, I’d only ever use the three purple shades, and even then I have ColourPop palettes that would offer me more depth. If it is your cup of tea, or if you have the perfect teenage girl who would love it, it is available right now for $20.

What do you think? What have you seen lately that makes you look twice, but ultimately doesn’t make you buy it? Thank you so, so very much for reading and for your comments, I really appreciate each of you.
