post-lockdown wishlist

Ok so, we’re all a bit sick of this whole pandemic thing by now. Ireland has been in lockdown since the 28th of March and we’re hoping to ease out of it in the next couple of weeks. But even if we suddenly come out of a strict lockdown, we’ll still have to come to terms with a new world that isn’t quite how we left it. It has been really hard for a lot of people to stay sane through it all- I totally get it. If I’d stayed in my little flat I would definitely be going insane.

But, aside from working my little butt off on my blog, I’ve been staying motivated, happy and- gasp- excited by looking to the future.

To the time that I’ll be able to go back to work again. To going for a drink with my brother and his gf in the city. To having people over to my gorgeous flat. And, as materialistic as it may sound, to the little treats I’ll indulge in when I’m back to financial stability! It’s dumb in the grand scheme of things, but here’s my post-lockdown wishlist. Also, I can’t wait to test new makeup.

Bits for my new flat

I got a new job in Dublin at the beginning of March. I literally managed to live in my flat for all of nine days before the surprise lockdown- I barely remember what it looks like at this stage! I moved home to Ireland from Manchester late last year so I had to donate a lot of my belongings that just couldn’t fit in my Dad’s car (we took the ferry home). As a result, I’m in my new flat and missing a lot of basics.

Which is great- my tastes have changed a lot and it helps that The Range, TK MAXX and Homesense are my favourite places in the world.

These are a few bits that I'm looking at to add the final touches to my cosy space;

Ikea rug, €13 to €25

Anthropologie Bistro mug (I know how basic that sounds, whatever), €12

TK Maxx or Homesense glassware

I love finding unique glassware in TK Maxx- and it's always such good quality!

Ikea drinks trolley €20

I'm still a bartender at heart and I appreciate a nice bar in my kitchen, especially as I love hosting!

Lipsy bedsheets

ColourPop

I allow myself a ColourPop haul every four to five months, because I'm an adult and I guess I have to be responsible. I was planning to order a few of the latest releases and bits that I’m missing in my collection at the beginning of April, but with the financial strain of Covid 19, and the amount of handling that my package would go through to go from California to Ireland, I’m going to hold out for a bit longer. It also really doesn’t help that I’ve to worry about paying customs upon delivery- what if I’m back in Dublin? Do I send it to my work- again, what if I’m still at my parents’? It’s as dumb as it is, it’s stressful.

If you can’t tell, I’m loving purple lately. I know that I can get similar palettes so much easier, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned from this lockdown, it’s how much I love ColourPop. I’m currently stuck with my self-curated Inglot nude palette, and I crave my ColourPop Flutter By palette (I’ve gushed over it in this review!). I just can’t get enough from the brand, basically.

Work outfits

So I got a new job! It’s my second professional Digital Marketing role, but it’s the first time that throwing on a tee and some jeans isn’t acceptable. I haven’t had the chance to update my corporate wardrobe (mostly because 90% of everything I try on doesn’t suit me and I’m not risking those odds by buying online), so when I’m able to browse a shopping centre I’ll definitely be accomplishing that. Until then, I can only scour Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration.

Now all I'm missing is a cat! Obviously, these aren't the absolute priority in these times, but it's nice to have something to look forward to. What are you looking forward to when life returns to normal?

As always, thank you so much for reading my blog- I'd be going crazy without it! Make sure to follow me on Instagram @lapetitemis for more beauty, skincare and lifestyle posts!
